Great site, lovely collection. My grandmother collects cornflower pieces; recently she has moved into a nursing home and in the process her favorite piece was broken; a red cornflower rose bowl. I have been scouring the web to find a replacement for her. If you have any resources, it would be much appreciated. |

I recently bought an 8″ ruby cut to clear glass vase in what on first sight looks exactly like all my other cornflower glass. But, on closer inspection I noticed there are only 11 petals and not 12. In every other respect the pattern is the same i.e the cross-hatching in the centre of the flower, the elongated stems and the way the leaves are cut, down to the nicking of the petals. Can anyone think of a reason why there are only 11 petals … this is not a small vase … and also, did Hughes ever do work on this colour of glass? If you’d like pics just email me … I am so curious to get to the bottom of this. Thanks! |

My Grandfather was Robert Sherriff, the Cornflower pattern is very much a daily thing in our life. I do believe I am known by my friends as the Crystal Princess. I have just recently moved and once again came across all my grandfathers old and original paper work and patterns. I have most of the original pieces and enjoy them everyday. Not to mention special pieces never sold in Eatons, he bought just for me. Best Wishes to all…. Barbara |

Hi to all other cornflower collectors. I have inherited a couple of pieces of cornflower crystal (2 vases – 1 platter). The vase are about 6″ high and are in a fan shape with a ball border around the top. The platter is or could also be called a shallow dish approximately 11″ in diameter and also with a ball edging. I was told that these might be of some value as they are unusual and hard to find pieces. Does anyone out there have any info concerning the above? Please share your knowledge concerning rarity, value etc. Thanks so much for making this possible! Good job. (from Seaforth, Ontario) |

Great site! I have a few pieces that belonged to my mother. I didn’t appreciate it until just recently. Now I wish I had kept better care of some of it. 🙂 (from Brampton) |

Hello fellow collectors,I as many of you have found this site after many days of searching. I have fallen in love with cornflower and candlewick glassware. It was exciting to see there were so many varieties of shapes and sizes and uses that this pattern was applied to. As many auctions as I go to, I very seldom see a repeat of an item I manage to acquire. I am so pleased to see so many like me interested. I had a lady try to tell me at an auction that nobody was interested in corn flower any more. She would be very surprised to see this site. Good hunting every one! (from Belleville, Ont) |

My father-in-law has a cornflower pitcher with six glasses, the glasses have a pinwheel pattern on the bottom. I have been unable to ID what “cornflower” pattern they are. Can anyone help me? Thank You. (from Waterford Ontario) |

I, too stumbled on your site by accident. What an exciting find. My friend started me on Cornflower and Candlewick a number of years ago and it has really grown. Pleased to see I had quite a few of your pieces. Really excited to see your bulb forcing vase as I had recieved one last Christmas from one of my friends. We ( don’t laugh, thought it was a scotch jigger) . Actually thats what the tag stated. Your idea makes more sense, I think. Any other ideas from your readers? I too have bought a salad fork and am now searching for the spoon. Gives me something to look for. (from Winnipeg, Mb.) |
