I have just purchased a cornflower footed rose bowl, red in color, 7 3/4″ high, mouth of bowl is 4″ in diameter and the circumference is 19 1/4″. Would anyone know approximately how much it is worth? Also, is there a book where you can find help in pricing cornflower? Thank you for any help anyone can give me. (from Stittsville, Ontario, Canada) |

Great site, very helpful. I have just recently started to collect cornflower crystal. I am especially interested in obtaining cream and sugar pieces, but am looking for other pieces as well. Can anyone suggest who I might contact in the Ottawa area. I appreciate any help anyone can give me. (from Stittsville, Ontario Canada) |

My mother, two sisters and I attended the Corn Flower Festival at the Dufferin County Museum this past June. While I was there I purchased a bowl and platter for a lady and her husband who were part of the consignment sale. She told me a bit about the history of the bowl and how she had gotten it and gave me her addresses, hinting that there might be other pieces she was willing to sell. I have since lost her address, but would very much like to her for her. She can email me if that’s possible if not I hope to see her again at next years festival. My father’s family grew up in Toronto across the street from the Hughes. Both families ran home based business. The Hughes family were good friends of my father’s family and the Hughes family would give pieces of crystal to each of my father and sibblings upon their marriages and when they were introducing a new piece would sometime give them a sample. I inherited a Duncan Phyfe China Cabinet filled with Cornflower crystal. I have since been collecting additional pieces to add to my ever increasing collection. I particularly like the clear crystal goblets with different coloured bases. When we were on holidays last month, their was an antiques fair in Port Elgin and I purchased the Salad Spoon and Fork, while talking with the merchant he informed me that their was a Cornflower Museum somewhere around Orangeville Ontario and that I should look it up, he seems to think that I have some very unique pieces that are probably worth quite a bit of money. It would be interesting to see what they are worth. If anyone knows of the whereabouts of this museum, I would appreciate if someone would let me know. (from Cookstown, Ontario, Canada) |

I like your site. I have collected for about 20 something years, since I was a babe. My mother had cornflower which made me collect to complete a useable set for my family to use every day. Wow! all these years later I now realize that I could collect for another 20 years and never have all of the pieces available in cornflower. I collect because I love the memories of family using the glassware. The only unfortunate part of collecting now are the greedy dealers who now think they can make a fortune on our memories. I used to get pieces for a quarter now they want $100.00 for some pieces. It makes me sad. I’m not normally on the net. but I was glad to see and hear about other collectors. Keep up the good work ! Great website. I am the 4th Generation to hold Cornflower. Twenty years ago my husband purchased the fork and spoon from the Salad Set in Imperial Candlewick at his Uncle’s auction sale. He gave the set to his mother for safe keeping, and she accidently dropped them. The spoon broke! We have been looking for a spoon ever since! If you know of a spoon and a fork, just a fork, or best, just a spoon, I would be very interested in purchasing it to complete my Salad Set! Thank you for this website and the opportunity to share Cornflower with all! (from Inglewood, Ontario Canada) |

I was at a yard sale and purchased several pieces of glassware. One piece had a label Corn Flower WJ Hughes. I researched my Candlewick book and there it was listed. WOW I couldn’t believe it. Such beautiful glassware. I collect Candlewick so I would be interested in the prices of my pieces and sell them. Maybe, they are so beautiful. But I guess so, because I collect Candlewick. I too inherited quite a bit of Cornflower crystal when my mom passed away and I had a tough time trying to find out any information on it. This website has been a god send. Does anyone know how I can find out what some of the pieces are worth? Any info you could give me would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. (from Birdsboro, PA, USA) |

Thank you for the history on this glassware. I acquired several pieces from my mother and have now just been left several more pieces from my mother’s bet friend. I have always loved this glassware but never knew its historical significance. I will cherish it all the more and can now pass this information along to my children. (from Norval, Ontario, Canada) |
